Gut Microbiome Test Kit

Equine Gut Microbiome Analysis provides insights into your horse’s gut microbial environment and how it may influence your horse’s health and performance.

The EMS Microbiome Score looks specifically for a gut microbial pattern associated with insulin dysregulation and Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS).

Behaviour & Stress - This analysis looks at your horse’s gut microbiome for patterns that may influence the gut–brain connection, stress response and behavioural resilience.

Note: The test is designed to be used solely to identify the genetic makeup and composition of gut microbiome in your horse’s gut and no other purpose is intended, authorized, or permitted, including diagnosing diseases. This report is for informational purposes only and cannot be used to diagnose or treat medical conditions. If any of the results are of concern to you, please consult with your horse’s veterinarian

Inside the report

What the analysis reveals

4 focus areas, scored and explained for your horse.

01

Metabolic Engine

This section looks at how your horse’s gut microbiome may influence the way energy is extracted from feed and how that energy is managed by the body. Especially the fermentation network strength and Lactic acid handling. Higher scores have been linked to improved athletic performance in racehorses.

02

Performance Resilience / Capacity

This score looks at how well-balanced the gut microbiome is, which can influence how well it copes with everyday challenges such as travel, competition, medication, changes in feed etc.

03

Inflammatory Risk

This section looks at specific bacteria that produce pro-inflammatory metabolites that may signify an increased risk of inflammation associated with things like gut inflammation, recovery challenges, joint and musculoskeletal inflammatory burden etc.

04

EMS Risk

This section looks at how your horse’s gut microbiome may influence the way glucose and carbohydrate energy metabolism is managed by the body. How sugar is regulated in the body can have major implications on body weight and general health as well as predispose to certain conditions such as laminitis.
